What Works For You, May Not Work For Her: Trouble Maker Mascara by Urban Decay

Same Product.

Different Outcome.

Our Senior Content Creators, Amanda (@acevellee) and Danyelle (@bufferingbetty), reviewed the mascara that makes a pretty bold claim! Keep reading to see what our ladies thought about this mascara.

Amanda

What I look for in a mascara is voluminous, thickening black pigment for my sparse, unruly lashes. A product without fallout is completely ideal. Formulation that hardens, making my lashes feel heavy is a must to avoid.

The textured, holographic tube is galactic and gorgeous. A refreshing alternative to the basic black and metal tubes. The slimmer brush is more like a comb and I’m just not feeling it.

I stabbed myself a couple of times with the spikes while trying to get to the roots of my lashes.

Apparently, Urban Decay’s is advertising this mascara as “sex-proof” (fun but reaching…). It’s also supposed to give sublime black pigmentation as well as 13.7 times the volume. For me, this mascara didn’t deliver 2/3 of its claims.

Amanda's Results

In my experience this mascara could hold up fairly well in a one hour gym session, experiencing minimal flaking and smudging. Along with longevity it also gave me a bit of length. Troublemaker absolutely didn’t volumize my lashes.

It separated them more making them seem more sparse and thin if anything.

I wouldn’t recommend Troublemaker Mascara because I personally dislike it. It didn’t do anything for me but with that being said, for someone with naturally thicker or fuller lashes, I guess this might work.

Danyelle

I really dislike mascaras that have a super wet formula. I'm always tempted to just leave the tube open for an hour to see if it'll age the mascara. I like my lashes to feel soft with a fanned out lash look.

This gothic unicorn packaging is my mood all Fall/Winter long.

I'll be honest: Packaging matters to me. Inexpensive or premium, makeup is a luxury. When I apply my makeup, I like it when the package to be hella cute. UD nailed the Troublemaker's tube! Also, I much rather have a rubber wand. I think they're less messy.

Sex proof, huh? Calm down. This claim was like Urban Decay was playing Truth or Dare with the whole of the beauty community. Dare: test it out! Truth: did you really check your mascara afterward?

While I rolled my eyes at that claim, I was anxious to try a mascara that promised all this volume with a lightweight formula! I detest when I can feel that I'm wearing mascara.

Danyelle's Results

I. Am. Feeling. Myself. With this mascara.

Because my lashes naturally curl up, I don't want or need a mascara that has a lot of hold. All it's going to be is stiff and harsh on my lashes. The definition Urban Decay's Troublemaker gave my lashes without turning them into tiny shards of glass is exactly what I want. I experienced no smudging or flaking. I also LOVE how easily this mascara removes in the shower. OMG. I don't want to waste half my cleanser on removing mascara. It was fantastic!

Do I think this mascara was top shelf quality? Eh. It's a great mascara for daily use. If you're looking for more drama to your lashes, you won't find it here. BUT!, this is what I want for like a regular Tuesday makeup look. Soft, dark lashes. Lasts all day. Easy off. The only tip I can offer is to use a dry, clean spooly to seperate any lashes that may clump together. That isn't an extra step for me. I do it with every mascara.

This Website Could Help Protect Your Skin From Another Breakout

You'll never have to wonder if a product is going to make your skin have a freak out again!

Shop Smart Saturday is back and ready to save your skin from a breakout. If you've got acne prone skin, this post is for you!

Shop Smart Saturday is all about being an informed consumer. You read reviews. You track trends. And you don't buy any product without researching down a rabbit hole that makes you want to have a paleo-diet for a few weeks! It's the worst when you experience buyer's remorse on account of you not having known what you now know, ya know?

Skincare is trial and error. But there is a way to significantly reduce the 'error' part. Sure, you can go to a dermatologist and have a skin analysis to learn what ingredients put at risk of a breakout so you'll, therefore -avoid them. But we found the millennial approach -a website that does all the guesswork for you!

CosDNA is a website that analyzes a product's ingredient list. It individually ranks the harshness of an ingredient on a scale from 1-9; 9 being the worst on your skin for long-term use.

"About Comedogenic (Acne), Irritation and Safety
The value of Comedogenic and Irritation from zero to five, the lower the better (the less chance it will happen).
Safety index from 1~9, the lower number means this ingredient is low hazard. Unlike comedogenic and irritation, Safety is a comprehensive index focus on safety on long term usage, according to harmful report from CIR, RTECS, FDA and other related information. The purpose of the index is more inclined to assess whether long-term injury of skin, cells or the human body." - CosDNA

The website is basic and looks outdated but it isn't. It's also super easy to use. There are two ways to search for problematic skincare that I find the most effective.

The first is by using the 'Product Search' tab. I searched the Peter Thomas RothTherapeutic Sulfur Masque Acne Treatment Masque. It was in their database. Seldom do I find that the product I am looking for is not with in CosDNA's database.

The ingredients in the product are individually listed and ranked for safety. It's that easy! Now that you know the risk, you are in control of whether or not you can manage a skin breakout this week!

The second approach is by using the 'Analyze Cosmetics' tab. This is helpful if you tried the 'Product Search' tab and weren't successful in your quest.

This method takes a little more effort on your part. That said, it's still very easy. It's as simple as finding the ingredients list on a product page. Just copy & paste then click 'analysis.'

I copied the ingredients for the Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask from it's Sephora webpage.

CosDNA gave a rank of the ingredients. It even found the name of the of the product I was looking up! It's a tool everyone can use!

Your skin will thank you!

How can I get rid of dark circles? Here's An Eye Cream Worth 4 Stars

Written By Deanna P

Biossance Squalane peptide eye gel

15ML 0.50721 FL OZ Retails for $54.00

Reduces puffiness and dark circles

As I become more knowledgeable about health & wellness I am more in tune to what I put in or on my body.  The products on the market today are filled with ingredients that are unsafe and harmful to your skin.  I had heard of Biossance, but did not now much about the brand. As a company they believe in clean beauty and they ban 2000 harmful ingredients.  Recently the company went to Capitol Hill to lobby for higher legislative standards for ingredients that that are allowed in beauty products.   The US has a surprisingly low standard and only ban a measly 11 ingredients. Biossance commits to no harmful ingredients, sustainable packaging, and proven results.  The brand originated in a lab in 2003 by Berkeley scientists.  They make all their products using biotechnology.  Their products are safe for your skin for the environment &  do not not harm animals.

"The cream has no synthetic fragrances, parabens, phthalates or

mineral oil.  It can be used on all skin types including sensitive skin"

The key ingredients and what the do include:

100% PLANT-DERIVED SQUALANE: Instantly hydrates and locks in essential moisture

EYESERYL & ARGIRELINE: Reduces the look of dark circles and puffiness

SWISS APPLE STEM CELL EXTRACT: Brightens the under eye area

Use of this product was very simple.  Gently dab on the lower and upper eye mornings & evenings.  It can also be dabbed above the brow.  I used it for a week and saw a visible improvement.  My under eye circles looked lighter and my eyes appeared brighter.   I think the product is worth the price.  I love what the brand stands for and it’s ingredients are all natural & the packaging is sustainable.   Your health is priceless & since this product promotes healthy skin and works, I am a fan. It can be purchased at Sephora.com

Customer Allegedly Contracted Oral Herpes From A Lipstick Sample From Sephora!

This is the stuff nightmares are made of!

We were blissfully toasting with tequila on a Taco Tuesday when the news broke. A California woman has a lawsuit against Sephora for allegedly contracting herpes from a lipstick tester.

Who is to blame on this issue? Sephora or the customer?

The woman says "other lipstick companies have proven methods of avoiding herpes exposure -- like individual samples or assistance from trained professionals" (TMZ). If you shop IRL at Sephora, you know that there are a bunch of employees floating around the gondolas to help you if you were to ask. You can even clean the lipstick sample for yourself with the alcohol dispensers that are at least a quarter of the way filled at each station. Where there also are the very doe foot applicators you use to apply a lipstick sample. Stil, should Sephora + and it's employees have been more attentive to clean the floor sample?

Where did this all go wrong? The writers of Meetpepperb.com discuss:

@bufferingbetty

Half of me feels bad that she will now live with this disease for the rest of her life just because she participated in the quintessential Sephora shopping experience of swatching. The other half of me wants to go in on her lack of common sense. When she uses a public restroom, is she sittin' or squattin'? How aware are you of the dirtiness of public areas? Hello! We learn not to share chapstick in the 6th grade! Ya'll know 'cooties' has always been code for herpes, right? What upsets me is that this lawsuit threatens the Sephora shopping experience. What if a lawsuit like this prompts the Disney World of makeup stores to take away samples? Don't take swatching away from me *sobs.* Leaving Sephora with stains on my hand from swatches too pigmented to for a quick cleanse to remove is a badge of honor. I'm spiraling. I've walked around a dozen Sephora stores that look clean and for all their soft glow lighting on products, NOT ONCE have I ever thought to put a lipstick directly on my lips! I've seen teeth marks on a lipstick before! This was completely a customer error. To the herpes totting fool who 1) either double dipped with an applicator or 2) put a lipstick directly on your lips -please be more considerate the next time you enter a Sephora. Also, self-care is very important so make sure you are doing just that. No hard feelings. Most of us know better.

Deanna

The recent article about the woman in Cali that supposedly  got herpes from using a lipstick at Sephora is a little odd to me.First of all, I have known for many years sharing makeup can lead to disease & infection so I don't do it.  I borrowed an eyeliner when I was in my teens and got pink eyes so that put a quick end to that!  Secondly, that is very hard to prove. She could have gotten it from someone she dated, her cheating husband,  the friend she loaned her lipstick to, etc.  It is next to impossible to know if Sephora's tester lipstick was the true culprit. My recommendation is to never try anything that the public can taint in any way, especially if it can effect your health!  Become a germaphobic!  You will live a drama free or in this case a herpes free life!

 Via @Oohkayla

I personally have never used a tester directly on my face before, but even if you were to use a q-tip or whatever the business offers you are still at risk. I think that any company that offers testers for customers to use at their own free will should have a sterilization process to avoid situations like this, especially since there are an abundance of diseases that don't have symptoms. In addition, I feel like that risk of it alone should be a challenge on survivor or fear factor.

I would argue that an extend you are consciously putting yourself at risk when using testers but overall it should be the company's job to protect their customers to the fullest extend, because without them there is not company.

Via @Twist.it.tea

Yikes. You couldn't pay me to put an in-store tester on my lips, but if that's how the woman from California who contracted HSV-1 from doing so, wants to collect her coin then sooo be it, I'm not hating.  But what concerns me is that I don't think this woman was trying to scheme on Sephora.  I believe she genuinely wasn't aware of the viruses and bacteria living on in-store testers.  With that being said I'm pretty disappointed in the fact that common sense was not on the fore front of her mind in this moment, but to play devil's advocate if you're an inexperienced makeup purchaser, you may not know how to clean & apply the products correctly if there's no sales associate around to assist.  Sephora can be over whelming at times, but never be afraid to ask for help - they're there to sell you on the product you wanted, plus 3 more you didn't know you needed.  But in the end Sephora needs to be held accountable 100%.  We put labels on blowdryers to warn of electrocution if we use them in a tub or near water ... the same kind of 'obvious warning' should go for sampling testers and the possible implications if the sample is not cleaned or applied correctly.  I'm not saying  you need to hire more  sales associates who can help in these minuscule tasks (or hint hint: maybe you do) but invest in more signage around testing areas that have clear written instructions and warnings against publicly shared makeup.

@acevalle

After reading about this I wanted nothing more than to disinfect my soul. I don’t understand how this woman feels she can sue Sephora when she herself tested the lipstick DIRECTLY from the tube, onto her lips. Is she too oblivious when it comes to cleanliness. I feel that the risk of using testers is more so common sense. She apparently is suing for “emotional distress caused by their failure to offer safer testers”. Sephora provides Hand Sanitizer and Alcohol as well as cotton swaps, pads and disposable lip applicators and mascara wands. They’re there to be used, and if empty simply ask a worker for help no matter how unapproachable some may be. Health over everything. While I do not blame Sephora for this incident, however I do feel that Sephora should halt letting just anyone who walks through the door whether wealthy or homeless, from using testers especially without the consult of a worker. Herpes doesn’t discriminate and that shit is for life. if you are in the know of your diagnosis, you shouldn’t be going to Sephora or any store and testing out lipsticks, It is YOUR responsibility of looking out for others. As for us, who are uninfected it’s OUR responsibility to look out for ourselves.

@Downtownpepper

(Above) The face you make after realizing you are the only person who has used a tester on Meetpepperb. I feel bad for this situation. However, I am a firm believer that if you don't know the answer to something find it. I haven't tried a lipstick but I have used testers in Sephora and thoroughly cleaned anything before using it. Most of the time Sephora is extremely busy not that this is an excuse, but why put your safety in someone else's hand ? I prefer to sanitize my own items. I feel better being responsible if something happens. There is google, we take time to research a lot things but why not research something that would prevent you from having long term issues. On several occasions shopping I've witness Sephora employees stop customers and request that they use disposable wands. I am sure they can't keep an eye on every single situation. As the shopper I think its important for you to sanitize your own items.

ON MY RADAR: Frank Body's Shimmer Scrub with a 50,000 person waitlist is COMING BACK and this time it's bringing some new friends along.

By: ACEVALLEE

Cult internet favorite coffee scrub brand FRANK BODY is re-releasing it's limited edition Shimmer Scrub and I couldn't be anymore excited. I was lucky enough to grab a shimmer scrub during it's initial release in early Spring 2017 and have been using as little as possible in fear of running out of this magnificent scrub. NOW THIS GLOW QUEEN CAN RESTOCK!!!

Frank Body Shimmer Scrub $19.95

This scrub is like a highlighter for your entire body. Made up of sugar, salt, roasted and ground robusta coffee beans to naturally exfoliate and buff your skin as well as grapeseed oil and vitamin to moisturize and make that glow dust (made up of mica particles, which is environmentally  friendly) to set into your skin. this scrub will leave you with not only super soft exfoliated skin, but with lingering iridescent radiance worthy of mermaids, fairies and unicorns.

This time the brand is releasing 2 extra products to make that glow pop ALL OVER.

Magic Shimmer Oil $21.95 (Although it looks bronzed and tinted, it is not therefore it will not stain your skin or clothing... YAY)

Along with the scrub Frank Body is introducing us to MAGIC SHIMMER OIL. A dry natural oil that blurs and perfects mimicking the look of an insta-filter. Made up of Grapeseed, Coconut and Evening Primrose oils to sink in and hydrate, soothe sensitive skin,  calm any irritations while remaining lightweight without any slippery residue. The Oil also includes Mica which the brand describes as "GLOW DUST". These gold and silver mica particles is what makes you shimmer and glow like a disco ball.

Frank Body Illuminator $16.95

Another glimmering gem the brand's releasing (which i'm extremely excited for) is their ILLUMINATOR. A highlighter for your cheekbones, nose, cupids bow, brows, décolletage... anywhere. Blended with jojoba seed, coconut and arabica coffee seed oils to heal, hydrate and get your blood pumping for fresh new skin cells to surface. of course tons of MICA which is the key to the glow in all of Frank Body's shimmer products.

Frank Body Shimmer Bomb Kit $49.95

You can purchase these glowing products separately or together as a set on FrankBody.com. As always for the US babes SHIPPING IS FREE!! Sign up now to get on the WAITLIST. The products should be available for purchase between November 1st through November 3rd.

Colourpop Is Coming To Sephora -Here's a Sneak peek of what's to come!

@bufferingbetty

Now we can ball on a budget at Sephora!

As if Halloween wasn't sweet enough, this year Colourpop, everyone's favorite affordable indie brand, will launch online and in-store at Sephora! They will carry some classic Colourpop faves and brand new goodies!!!

Sure, we're excited to swatch a Super Shook Shadow IRL -but the real craze is about Colourpop keeping their same low prices!

Well, mostly. But let's look at what's new first.

Then we'll talk prices.

The first is this lip gloss trio. The Feelin Fine Lip Gloss Trio ($18) includes three duo chrome glosses in Fairy Me, Obviously, Lay-Z. All brand new shades! The gilded cap is everything!

Next, we have the Golden State of Mind ($26) eye shadow palette.full of shimmer shades!

The sunset colors and the golden butterfly on the packaging are beautifully relaxed. It reminds me of what Colourpop represents - a sort of breezy ease of makeup with accessibility to everyone.. It's says, "You're here for fun and don't have to be a makeup expert to apply makeup."

Colourpop says that the price point hasn't changed.

In the case of the bundle of lip glosses, prices did slightly go up. If you were to purchase a lip gloss trio from Colourpop.com right now, you'd pay $15, It's true for their collab with influencer iluvsarahii. Her lip gloss trio costs $15; so does  the Can You Knot ultra satin lip trio, and even the Out And About ultra matte liquid lipstick trio. All of these trios are $15.

The bundle at Sephora is $18. Individually, an ultra satin lipstick, a lip gloss, or an ultra matte liquid lipstick would cost $6 each. Take out your calculator and you'll see there isn't a money saving gem with the Sephora bundle. So buying the bundle at Sephora wouldn't save you any money the way it would on Colourpop's website.

So you will pay full price per product that is featured in a bundle v. saving a few bucks the way you would on Colourpop's website.

What are your thoughts about that?

Here are a few more new goodies launching tomorrow (10/31)!!

Dating in NYC: Life with JRDN!

Written By Pepper. B

If you've stumbled upon this interview your at the right place at the right time. Meet JRDN she's a tastemaker you need to see in NYC. Besides having a great Podcast " Dating in NYC "   she introduces you to a few things you need to do and see in NYC on her website. Jrdn's Podcast has gotten me through intense travel and commuting. Read more below and find out a little bit more about living life with JRDN ...

My name is Jourdan Ash better known on the internet as Life With JRDN — a 25 year old writer/blogger who likes long walks on the block, Popeyes, and Hip-Hop. My podcast, Dating in NYC, has blossomed from an interview based segment on my blog to a bi-weekly podcast where I explore and learn about the many intricate parts of dating and romance in this (sometimes wild) city. The idea came to me after a bad breakup when I tried to force myself into the dating scene, but kept meeting the same men in different bodies. Through my podcast, I’ve become more self-aware about some of my toxic dating habits as well as more open to learn about the disconnect when it comes to romance between men and women.

What motivated you to create the “ Dating in NYC” Podcast ?

Dating in NYC started as a segment on my blog,  LifewithJRDN.com , after I had got out of a bad breakup. I kept meeting the same men in different bodies and often questioned ‘what the fuck was going on?’ I started by asking a few questions on Twitter to see if other women were going through the same thing or if it was just me. After I realized women were going through the same issues, I started doing interviews and it soon grew into a podcast. I wanted to have more uncensored conversations about dating/romance and learn more in the process.

What’s the last song you listened to while commuting ?

“Can’t You See” J Dilla

If you could describe your dating life in the form of a movie title what would it be ?

“She’s Gotta Have It”

What are 3 things people need to mentally prepare themselves for when dating in NYC?

Prepare for meeting a lot of people who don’t know themselves, believe their online persona transcends or makes up for their lack of personality in real life, and prepare yourself to be extremely patient.

Do you think social media influences dating in a positive or negative way ?

Social media only has the influence that people allow it to have — which can be negative or positive. The only thing that’s tricky about dating with social media influence is people pretending to be this persona on the internet that they aren’t in real life.

Do you think couples should interact with each other over social media ? YES

If a person wanted to court or “swoon” you what would be the ideal date ?

If a man wanted to court me, an ideal date would be something that shows me multiple sides of him. For example, I love rollerskating/ice skating but I’m very bad at it. Both times I went on skating dates, I was able to see how patient, caring, fun, and good at teaching they were all at once. So anything that’s active or gives us a chance to talk or learn (usually involving food before or after) is how to court me.

How do you feel about dating apps? Which do you avoid ?

I’m not the biggest fan of dating apps, they’re more of a joke than anything.

You post a lot of good eats in nyc on social media please list your favorites below:

Pizza Shop: No Favorite just yet! Still searching for the perfect slice!

Ice Cream Shop: Mikey’s Likes It

Soul Food: Melba’s (until I finally try Peaches)

Tacos: Essex Tacos

Time to Take These Beauties Off The Bench: The Starting Line Up for Fall 2017

Black Up Matte Jumbo Lip Pencil in 21M ($22 from Sephora)- Not only am I LOVING this shade of an orangey nude matte, but I’m about to buy the entire line, tthe formula is that good.  The matte lip liner that dubs as a lipstick is my new go to. It’s easy to apply and my lips stay pigmented throughout the day.  Huge plus that it doesn’t dry out my lips all crazy.

Smith’s Menthol and Eucalyptus Balm ($6 from Sephora)- I have been using Smith’s lip balm for years.  I love everything about this little baby. A little goes a long way because of the jelly-like formula but I love the versatility of being able to wear it under lip sticks or stains when my lips are dry in need some moisture. Once the temperate starts to drop my lips are the first to get feel the weather so I keep one of these in my bag at all times because it really does the trick.  The minty freshness of the menthol is a nice touch too ;)

Makeup Forever Liquid Matte in Rosewood in 105 ($22 from Sephora): If Makeup Forever were to ever discontinue this shade I would have very, very, strong opinions about it, and also nightmares, because I genuinely love it so much.  Seriously, it is a beautiful mauve and the liquid matte lipstick formula is a solid 10/10, even when it’s been through 2 matcha lattes, an avocado toast and a spliff, my lips are still pulling through with the pigmentation all while maintaining comfort.  Shout out to the avocado oil and glycerin, and that’s what’s in the formula – not my lunch.

Black Up Lipstick in 28 ($23 from Sephora)- As much as I love a good matte … Black Up steals my heart with their Satin Finish Lipstick.  I feel so badass in this lipstick, I’m not going to lie. Pictured is shade 28 in Deep Magenta, but not only is it a killer purple but it has a beautiful sparkle to it.  It has the perfect balance of dark and mysterious but also fun and playful…it’s great for all day wear depending on your mood. This + my Milk Supernova Highlighter = perfection

Smashbox Legendary Lipstick in Inspiration ($21 from Smashbox) – I know this shade kind of looks like the odd one out but let me tell you how beautiful this lipstick is with the Black Up Lipstick in 28 + smashbox Insta-Matte over top … wow. A whole new feel to this too-bright-for-me lipstick.  Worn alone, bright fuchsia pink isn’t normally my style, but mix in a complementary color to give it some definition and I’m all game to experiment.  I’ll end up layering on lipsticks through out the night/day but this is a great base color for my ‘brighter’ fall days.

The Galaxy Eye Shadow That Has Us Feeling So Extra -Terrestrial!

Ready for eye shadows that will make you feel out of this world?

These shadows have a wild amount of depth and dimension.

Intergalactic, Ether, Zodiac (Fave), + Cosmic

This eyeshadow formula was made for movement! Not a speck of chunky glitter lies within these multi-dimensional eye shadows. A soft base loaded with different shades of sparkle. And the way they reflect light -it's everything Ke$ha used to sing about. Now I got that glitter on my eyes... Looking sick and sexified.

The best way to apply this eye shadow is with your finger. However, you can use a short, dense flat shader brush and get a beautiful look. Apply a small amount and blend it out. Add a second layer and keep it concentrated to where want your eye shadow to pop! The color lasted pretty long on my eyes as well. You must, without question, use a sticky base. There will be a ton of fall out if you don't.

The color of the base plays a major role in how the shimmers stand out. The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils in Black Bean + Milk have contrasting effects on the Moondust shadows. Milk (white) gave the shadows a grayish base and really let the sparkles stand out with direct light on it. The black base intensified everything! The base of the shadow became more pronounced. The shimmers were singing! The reddish copper shade is from the Eyedeal Duo from Dose of Colors in Maple. It gave a different tone to the shadows. The Intergalatic shadow (lighter purple) looked like it was on fire.

Urban Decay also launched some of the Moondust shadow shades in a liquid form. Layering the Liquid Moondust Cream underneath turns the volume of the powder shadow all the way up.

My favorite way to wear these shadows is layered over an eye pencil such as these 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils in Mainline (blue) and Goldmine (gold). The formula give the shadows something to cling to and help prevent any fall down. The pinkish base is a Multistick from Bite Beauty in Cashew. The Moondust shadow in Cosmic layered over is just stunning!

Let Urban Decay's Moondust eye shadows abduct you!

Available at Sephora, Ulta, Macy's, and UrbanDecay.com ($21)

How To Get The Fenty Face Without Fenty Products (Drugstore Too!)

Fashion icon, actress, singer, Rihanna, has made her mark on the beauty industry with the launch of her own makeup line. All September long, the beauty sphere has been cheering for Fenty Beauty. Makeup obsessed shoppers can't stop talking about Rihanna's release of 40 shades of foundation. They have also just been going straight batshit for her highlighters.

The Fenty Face comes down to great skin and a banging highlight. We are so here for it. Should you run into trouble getting your hands on their products, you can still get the Fenty Face without one product from Fenty. Here's how:

Prime

Fenty Beauty's primer is all about giving the skin a natural radiance while blurring pores. To get the look of the Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer you can use a blurring primer on your problem areas, such as deep set smile lines and pores on your nose, while applying a radiant primer on the rest of your face. Two primers -so extra, right? No.  It is how I begin my makeup and how I make sure my whole face still looks good by the end of the day. These primers have a similar finish to Fenty's.

Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm

Pro Prep HD Face Primer

Foundation

Think of Rihanna's most iconic looks. Her skin is always poppin'. She never looks cakey and heavy. Just blessed with skin that is naturally bomb af.  It is the same with Fenty's Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. Soft matte, demi-matte, satin, whatever name you give it, there is one conclusion. Skin that is effortlessly beautiful. In Ri Ri's own words, "I want it to look like perfect skin, not like makeup on skin."

Fit Me Matte and Poreless

Glow To The Gawds

Trophy Wife. The highlight that has stopped the hearts of beam queens coast to coast. Fenty's Killawatt Freestyle Highlighters and Match Stix Shimmer Skinsticks are a wardrobe for your face. Badgalriri said, "I like to look at these Shimmer Skinsticks like I look at my clothes in the closet. Am I doing fun? Am I doing alien? Am I doing weird? Am I doing sexy? Am I doing extra? Am I doing girl next door? You choose." (source). Rihanna can pull off any look. We've seen her look like a muñeca in her cupcake dress and like Morticia at the Diamond Ball. The key to the Fenty face highlight is FUN. Whatever you choose, let it pull your whole look, mood, and vibe together.

FaceStudio Master Strobing Stick Illuminating Highlighter

Blot On The Go

Those with oily skin were the first to notice that the launch of Fenty Beauty didn't include something they rely on to ensure their make up lasts: setting powder. Maybe that is because a powder look is not part of the fresh Fenty Face. The foundation also claims to be "undetectable" (source) and a powder is usually a dead give away that you have makeup on your face - apart from gilded eyes and these other trending fall looks.  But some of us need a little blot throughout the day. Here are some products that are just as easy to throw in your bag to reduce shine as you clock out and head to happy hour.

What products are you excited to see launched from Fenty Beauty?

This Lightweight Liquid Lipstick Will Survive Taco Tuesday!

Tis the season for deep lips (although I believe you can wear them throughout the entire year).

I have honestly never tried HUDA Beauty Liquid Matte and Lip Contour Matte Pencil before today and I wish I had jumped on this train a while ago. First off the packaging is sultry, and perfect for that Instagram aesthetic.

The shade "Famous" is an absolutely gorgeous Burgundy, reminiscent of my favorite Pinot Noir. Although the shade is incredibly dupable, the actual quality and featherweight formula is NOT.

The liquid lip goes on thin and comfortably. While applying it went on smoothly along my lips. Given, it does have a watery consistency but two layers leave a perfectly sleek, opaque result. It does dry down so lightweight you feel like nothing is on your lips. I recommend blotting lips so that you don't feel a sticky residue. I do have to make sure to let it dry completely before I go on about my day because it will transfer onto and stain my invisible aligners. I don't care what anyone says NO MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICK IS HYDRATING AT ALL, however, this liquid lipstick is more comfortable than most, just make sure you prep your lips properly and exfoliate before application for the best result.

I really do love the Lip Contour Matte Pencil. It glides on incredibly smooth as well and doesn't skip while outlining the lips. It isn't super drying and sits light and well on the lips. It is the perfect base when applied under the liquid lip but also works sufficiently on its own.

Most importantly you guys, this liquid lip and lip contour duo did survive through Taco Tuesday. A tiny bit of transfer did occur but nothing that a quick little touch-up couldn't fix.

As the product dries down, the shade deepens which is pretty cool to see happen before your eyes. Here is how the shade "Famous" sets on my medium skin tone.

The Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick retails at sephora.com and shophudabeauty.com for $20 and the matching Lip Contour Matte Pencil retails for $19. Your local Sephora might carry mini pairs to try out before you splurge and commit to the full size products which is a plus.

On My Radar: Top Fall Beauty Trends with The MPB Team

Take the runway to your vanity with these top Fall beauty trends that emerged from Fashion Week hand picked by us! Each of us on the Meetpepperb Team have a different style that rings true in what caught our attention this fashion season. Fall is more than the classic warm tones and dark lips. It's beautiful but don't forget to have fun with your makeup! Keep reading to find out our top picks for beauty this season! You can also save your favorite looks to Pinterest!

@bufferingbetty's Pick: Modern Victorian

Once you get past the powdered face of a Victorian look, what remains is a minimalist usually cool-toned smokey eye paired with flushed cheeks and lips. What I love about it is that there is a secrecy in the look. A wide-eyed doe sweetie who is blushing because... a tryst in the garden? Stolen glances? It is romantically guilty! To modernize this look, scale back the total matte-ness of the era. Go for a natural skin-like finish. Use a berry stain on lips topped with a gloss. Skip the cheekbone highlight and make the look pop with a color mascara!

@Twist.it.tea's Pick: Floating Space

A mix between mod and minimalism has me in love.  Everything I've been told about coloring in the lines has gone out the window.  There are no rules to a floating liner and it can come in many shapes, shades and sizes.  Bold, lines and colors that remind me of a Piet Mondrian painting, or metallic liners and shadows creating a futuristic cat eye -- negative space on the lids isn't just high end runway wear, the beautiful imagery can be translated for a less dramatic event with a simple line above your lid.

@acevallee's Pick: Gilded Lids

Whether painted or sleekly lined, glittered, shimmery or matte, GOLD is the perfect accent to make any look Luxe. Mostly seen with minimal makeup on the runway, the golden lids make a grand statement. I adore metallic beauty looks, especially gold because it's glamorous and looks like jewelry on your eyelids and is just as eye-catching. Gleaming gilded lids can even glam up sweats, a tee and a pair of sneakers, it's that powerful. Some looks I fell in love with on the A/W runways early this year varies from more simplistic glittering gold lined lids paired with a bold brow as seen on the model at Nicholas K to a more shimmery, bold and geometric eye look at the Alexis Mabille show to a light pale yellow gold with matching nail accents at Laura Biagiotti.

@Downtownpepper's Pick: Extremely Glossy Lip

The time is now to let matte lipstick go! I mean it is great for special occasions or date night. However, I am thrilled that the wet lip trend is back this is a go to for me when I am on shoots or even when I translate it to my personal life. The wet lip is minimal and sexy all in one! The wet lip gives you leg room to be as dramatic as you want with your make-up or highlighter. To be honest I thought Rihanna helped bring this lip trend back with Fenty's universal nude gloss. but NO! Glossier has been ahead of the trend! Also I've been trying to track down this beautiful clear gloss from Sephora collection with holographic glitter (Starlight) for months and its been SOLD out every store I check! Fall and Winter will be here way before we know it. Skin appears so much more fresh and can tolerate full coverage make-up that will stay, however dry weather and dry lips don't mix so do yourself the favor !!!

Which Look Will You Add To Your Fall Routine?

This luxurious 3 in 1 multi-use product promotes youthful skin that's as smooth as a baby's bottom.

Charlotte Tilbury is known as one of the Queens of the Beauty Industry. I have followed her career during my teens and early 20s as she was the artist behind iconic looks from Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss (I won't ever get over that Iconic V magazine cover of Rihanna and Kate!) as well as working with Tom Ford for many years.

It has been a handful of years since she released her own high end beauty line and one of the stand out products I've heard raves about was the Charlotte Tilbury Multi-Miracle Glow, a 3 in 1 cleanser, mask and face balm. When I got my hands on this I almost fainted and was praying that it lived up to the hype.

Created with a blend of organic sea buckthorn seed oil to aid in a smoother complexion, vitamin A, C and E to improve firmness, brightness and moisture for youthful, glowing skin as well as rosehip and camellia oils to renew texture, hydrate and delay aging.

My favorite thing about this product is the consistency. The balm feels luxurious. I always say that products like these make you feel calm and pampered. Cleansing and treating your skin no longer feels like a chore.

Cleansing was a breeze, I tried it as a make up remover and it took off my mascara and eyeliner fairly well, better than expected. I did another thorough cleanser after removing my makeup and then used it as a mask. It does as it says and makes your skin baby soft and plump with major hydration without leaving it oily (oily gals, this multi-tasking product is your friend) I recommend massaging it onto dry skin to get blood circulating and letting the skin drink up the moisturizing benefits. You can do the same when using it as a mask but just leaving it on for about 15 min . I must admit that I did NOT use this as an overnight mask, but I have used it as balm moisturizer by applying very little after cleansing/masking.

If I can change one thing about this product, it is the subtle scent (subtle for me, but might be stronger to others) I don't feel quite comfortable putting perfumed products on my face. With that being said, I'm shocked (and pleased) to find that after a couple of weeks of use, this cleanser/mask/balm/everything didn't burn or irritate my dry sensitive skin. My face also doesn't feel uncomfortable tight after I rinse it off or get red.

Sensitive skin friendly multi use cleanser. The gel like balm texture is superb!

I found that you can even use this on dry body parts like your hands and elbows (trust me, try masking your hands with this, your cuticles will feel renewed)

This 3 in 1 Product retails for $60 with 100ml of product which may seem like a little bit of product but you are paying for the luxurious quality. This is definitely a "TREAT YO SELF" product, and a perfect gift as the packaging is absolutely gorgeous!

You can purchase Multi-Miracle Glow at CharlotteTilbury.com, Nordstrom.com, Net-a-porter.com and Bloomingdales.

A Top Rated Red Clay Cleanser ... but Where are the Fireworks?

Written by Twist.It.Tea

FIRST AID BEAUTY

Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay

I was kind of on the fence about this product at first, but since my pores have been doing the most, and this cleanser is great for a deep cleanse, I’ve been giving it a go for the last few weeks.  Honestly, no harm has been done to my face since using this cleanser, and I use it both, day and night respectively.  My skin has stayed clear, and my pores are basically nonexistent under my eyes so that makes me really happy.  I haven’t noticed any negative effects to my face but there’s something about this cleanser that doesn’t strike me as AMAZING. My other cleansers have exfoliants in the formula and I love how smooth and fresh they make me feel after a wash.  I’m looking for that so-fresh-and-so-clean feeling after a long day of work and First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay is just notttttt doing it for me.  I don’t have any problems with blackheads or much acne – maybe a few blemishes here and there so when I use a cleanser I’m looking for a smooth feeling afterwards, and a makeup free face.  But I will say this cleanser is great for drawing out black heads and other impurities because of the of the Red Clay component.

I really enjoy the process of my nightly routine, and I relish in the moments after removing a face full of makeup. Not to mention I’m really into this red clay color that reminds me of my favorite Algenists Mask that I usually apply right after.  The gel was weird at first because I was expecting a thicker formula hence the red clay, but the way it suds up is nice, and it kind of has this sparkly look to it when it’s out of the tube.   I’m not going to lie…. I hate the smell of this formula, it’s like a cheap Vicks Vapor Rub type nostalgia and I’m not with it.  Ya’ll know I love that fresh tropical, coconut vibe and this is the complete opposite.  I’ve actually gotten used to it after a few weeks but it’s such a turn off that I would never repurchase this for $24.  I’m not amazed and I’m not convinced it’s really doing much for my skin besides cleaning my pores a little extra deeper and not drying out my face when removing the excess oil.  The ingredient that caught my eye was the Rosemary Leaf Oil, which is supposed to unclog your pores and tone the skin. The Red Clay does all the dirty work by absorbing that nasty oil build up, while detoxing and purifying the skin. The cool thing about the Red Clay ingredient is that while it’s battling the evils of your skin, it’s doing it in a calm and gentle way that won’t strip your skin of your much-needed natural oils. This stuff may be harsh on some skin types, but I have combo/oily skin and like I said, I haven’t had any problems. In fact, it’s reduced the uneven skin tone on my cheeks and alleviated some stubborn blemishes and redness. I won’t repurchase this facewash, but I definitely won’t say it’s trash, it’s just not what I’m personally looking for in a cleanser, which has also has the necessary elements of exfoliants and an amazing aroma.
