Ruby Kisses Matte Lip Lacquer – Mirage Review

Liquid lipstick purchases have dominated my bank account for the last year. I just have to get my hands on the newest formulas, the newest shades, from my favorite brands. Go ahead, name a brand, I’ve tried it. Whether you are shopping at CVS or Sephora, liquid lipsticks tend to be way more expensive than traditional, twist up, bullet style lipsticks. So now let us all take a moment to thank Ruby Kisses for bringing us their Matte Lip Lacquer. It’s a great AND affordable liquid lipstick? … Thank You! The lipstick comes in a smooth, velvety package whose color matches the lipstick. It’s a small detail but it shows that Ruby Kisses takes in to account the makeup application process. I don’t want to waste time guessing what shade of lipstick I’m picking up or have to read the bottom of every single one to find the shade I want to wear, don’t you know I’m most likely running late? Packaging that matches the shades just make the day easier. I’m talking to you, M.A.C. The applicator is long and flat. Perfect if your lips are thick and you don’t want to spend an hour applying lipstick because so many applicators are for those with thinner lips.

‘Matte’ and ‘Lacquer’ seem quite opposite, right? Yes! But don’t let the name throw you. These liquid lipsticks dry down to a decently comfortable matte finish. Glide two thin layers of this pigmented formula to your lips, and you will have an even coverage. The mousse like formula takes about 5 minutes to dry down but that doesn’t turn me away. I will honestly admit that I am not an expert in lipstick application, so I appreciate that I have time to perfect the shape before it dries. If you’re in a rush and need that lipstick dry like right now: after you apply the lipstick take a thin tissue and gently place it on your lips. Then apply a setting powder right on the tissue over your lips. Insta-matte. Just try it. This cool-toned mauve shade I’m wearing is called Mirage. Rudy Kisses went even further. Thanks to them, there will finally be unique colors at the drug store. They released 14 shades that include more than just your typical mauves and nudes. Yellow. Navy. Gray. Lavender. Orange. I was floored. Whatever shade you choose to wear, be sure not to leave the tube at home because you will have to reapply the lipstick after about three hours or immediately after you eat. Again, that isn’t something that would bother me, but it is something to keep in mind when you go shopping. If you want your lipstick to last for forever ever, get them tattooed. For now, take $4 from your wallet, and go pick up a shade that speaks to you. You won’t regret it.
