Do you remember the hype surrounding the Beached Bronzer when Urban Decay released their summer collection last year complete with new powder highlights? Slap a palm tree on a compact and you would've sworn Urban Decay introduced the first bronzer ever. While I don't think this bronzer is anything revolutionary, it certainly is worth trying. The silky powder blends easily and doesn't leave your face looking super powdery. While it is a matte bronzer, you're face doesn't look flat at all. As with any bronzer, work in light layers until you get the color depth you want. Bronzer can go 0 to Snooki, real quick. For the smoothest application, I found than dabbing my brush on my face worked better that circular blending.
The bronzer is available in two shades. I have the lighter shade, Sun Kissed. At first, I thought this bronzer was a little too light for me, but the shade actually worked well. My skin is too dark in the summer for this shade. But when winter rolls around and I'm a ghostly gray version of myself, this lighter shade of bronzer is exactly what I need. I also like to use it to soften any contouring that got out of control.
One of my absolute favorite things to do with bronzer is to mix it with my blush. I Love Blush. I really do. You will more often catch me wearing light coverage foundation and blush than bronzer. Mixing bronzer into blush looks so pretty!!! If you have bright and colorful blushes, blending your bronzer with it can give them a nude, fresh look. The Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in Sun Kissed is the perfect tone for doing so becasue it pulls a little bit pink! The next time you apply your makeup, mix a glowy pink blush with your matte bronzer and dab it onto your cheeks. Your skin, your eyes, and your future will brighten up.
Ok, so maybe don't mix a bright purple blush with bronzer unless you are dressing as a zombie. But you've got to admit that all of the other shade mixes are completely wearable. You can make your makeup collection endless by being a little creative. Mix shades of products you normally wouldn't.
I like to dab my bronzer onto my face with a fluffy brush and then further blend it out with a duo fiber brush. Almost every step of face makeup application is a two-step process for me. When you're obsessed with makeup, you want it to look good. So if you find that you have trouble with patchy bronzer, add a second step. Use another brush and soften your grip for lighter application. It makes a huge difference.
Pretty package? For sure. Great product? Definitely! Worth the hype? Eh, kinda. LOL! If you're in the market for a bronzer, the Beached Bronzer is worth swatching.
